Kaffa is said to be the birthplace of Arabica coffee, and it is here, on the Abyssinian Plateau, that the famous “Legend of the Goatherd of Kaldi” was born. The rich forests are all around, and the conditions for growing good quality coffee are all in place. The coffee grows slowly in the shade, which gives it a distinctive flavor with a sense of density.
Many farmers make a living not only from coffee but also from beekeeping, and the forests are home to many animals such as lions, leopards, hippopotamuses, buffaloes, and antelopes, making it a comfortable environment for wildlife.

Ethiopia is the only African country that has its own writing system, which is unique in its hieroglyphic form, with a Hangul-like script based on seven vowels.
Coffee trees are grown in farmers’ gardens or in the forests, using traditional farming methods that have remained largely unchanged for centuries. However, it is only recently that detailed information about Ethiopia’s coffee regions and producers has actually become available. 2017 ECX rule changes made it possible for even small private companies to trade directly with buyers around the world, opening up a variety of information that was previously impossible to know. Various information is now open.

The farmer, Mr. Tamil, is 55 years old and used to work in medicine before becoming a coffee grower. He is currently a coffee farmer with a 200 hectare coffee farm and processing plantation in Wishwish village, having taken over his parents’ coffee farm.
